How can I enrol on a course?

What Opportunities are available to students?

A.

Students who complete their training have the opportunity to further their training at the tertiary level. While on vacation, the Centre assists students to engage in practical internship. All trained students have the potential to set up their own businesses after completion.

What are the courses offered?

A.

The main courses offered are Fashion (Dressmaking, Tailoring, Millinery, Interior & Floral Decoration); Beauty Therapy (Hair-Dressing, Pedicure, Manicure, Facial); Hospitality (Catering, Hotel/Guest-house Management, Front-desk Operations)

Students are required to take courses in Entrepreneurship, English, Mathematics and ICT. Additionally, students can also choose to train in other skill areas, which include Beads Designing; Textile Printing (Batik, tie & dye, screen printing); Soap and  Detergent.

What is the course duration?

A.

Currently, the programme is designed for a two-year (2) period, with three (3) terms per year for students registered for the NVTI accreditation. Short courses are also designed for a period of 3 – 6 months, depending on choice of skill area.

Who qualifies to be admitted?

A.

The programme admits young women with WASSCE/SSSCE, Commercial or BECE Certificates.  The uniqueness of the centre makes it possible to also admit those with no qualification or certificate, including school drop-outs, and train them in a very special, practical way to become great craftsmen.  They are accredited with NVTI Proficiency certificates.

Which certificate do I receive at the end of the programme?

Students who complete NVTI examinations are accredited with Foundation, Certificates I & 2 and Proficiency Certificates.

What can you do with your certificate when you leave school?

A.

After training, students will invariably be adequately skilled to engage in their own enterprise development towards self-dependency and sufficiency.  The Entrepreneurial Skills training enables the girls to gain confidence and dexterity in setting up and managing their own business adequately.

Students who are anxious to further their education to tertiary level (Polytechnic and later to the University) can do so with good grades in NVTI Certificates I & II.

Does the school provide the learning materials?

A.

The School Prospectus details the basic, essential tools and materials in a student’s course area that she is required to carry along to the Centre. Some learning materials would be provided by CEED to enable students grasp all the required concepts and practical knowledge to be well equipped by the time of completing the course.

Are there internship opportunities for students

A.

All students have the opportunity to be assisted by the centre to undertake job placement or attachment in industries or companies in their respective areas of training. After training, students will invariably be adequately skilled to engage in their own enterprise development towards self-dependency and sufficiency.  The Entrepreneurial Skills training enables the girls to gain confidence and dexterity in setting up and managing their own business adequately.
